Thomson Depot

Built around 1860, the Thomson Depot began as a granite freight room on the Georgia Railroad, later expanded with a brick passenger lobby, and stood at the heart of the town's commercial district for over a century before being restored to house the local chamber of commerce. Generations of cargo, travelers, and the rougher edges of railroad life passed through its doors, and the building's old boarding house and first county jail once stood nearby on Grady Street. Those who have lingered after dark tell of the temperature suddenly plummeting, an icy wave of dread rolling over them, and the unshakable certainty that something unfriendly is watching from the shadows. The presence is described not as a sorrowful lost soul but as something menacing, hostile enough that more than one visitor has fled the depot rather than stay alone within its walls. To this day, locals say the old station keeps a guest who never bought a ticket out.
