Worley Homestead Inn

Built in 1845, this antebellum home in Dahlonega became the Worley family's homestead in 1865, just after Captain William J. Worley returned from the Civil War, and the family lived there until 1932. The house later operated for decades as the Historic Worley Bed & Breakfast and still stands today, restored by a Worley descendant and now run as an inn near the town square. Local lore holds that a teenage Worley boy, Claude, was struck by a train, brought back to the home, and died there of his injuries. The legend gained wide attention when a photographer's 1845-home interior shot, rediscovered around 2003, appeared to show the faint figure of a boy lying on a bed in an empty room. Paranormal investigator Joshua P. Warren's group examined the image and later discussed it on national radio, cementing the photograph as one of north Georgia's most circulated pieces of alleged ghost evidence.
