Barrington Hall
Completed in 1842 after years of seasoning its timber, Barrington Hall is a Greek Revival mansion built on the highest point in Roswell for Barrington King, who with his father Roswell King founded the town. The King family held the home for over 150 years until 1995, and it now serves as a house museum owned by the City of Roswell. Staff and visitors have long reported the place to be restless: mysterious voices and footsteps echo through empty rooms, and the smell of cigar smoke drifts up with no source to be found. The most enduring tale is of a woman in a white dress seen on the grounds, a figure echoed by a descendant's photograph that captured a woman in period clothing standing in the side garden when no one was there. A ghost-tour operator who investigated the house described a sudden, dramatic cold chill that stopped him in his tracks, a presence two other guides felt the same evening.
