Crystal Palace Saloon
The Crystal Palace, whose two-story gaming parlor opened July 22, 1882, on the corner of Fifth and Allen, is one of Tombstone's most authentic and continuously operating saloons, its ornate bar witnessing more than 140 years of drinking, gambling, and gunplay tied to the era of the O.K. Corral. Lore tells of Golden Dollar, a working woman murdered in the early 1880s, whose laugh and the scent of rose perfume are reported, with male staff feeling unseen hands on their shoulders. A gambler called Swiftwater Bill is blamed for cards shuffling themselves and chips moving across tables, while a bartender named Frank, killed defending the register, is tied to cash drawers malfunctioning when someone with ill intent approaches. Staff and patrons also describe an unidentified cowboy at the bar glimpsed in the antique mirrors, self-playing piano music, and objects relocating overnight in the historic room.
