National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus

Built along the Chattahoochee River, the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus houses the salvaged hulls of Confederate warships, including the CSS Jackson and the gunboat CSS Chattahoochee, alongside flags, weapons, and the uniforms of sailors who died at sea. After the Alabama Paranormal Research Team documented EVPs, photographs, and video during 2009 investigations, the museum began hosting "Sea Ghosts" lantern tours and overnight "PARAFIED" hunts. Staff and visitors describe misty white vapors, shadowy figures of uniformed men, glowing eyes, and disembodied footsteps echoing across the skeletal ship remains, with strange sensations reported near the Tennessee's Confederate battle flag. In the museum store, books are said to slide and tumble from the shelves of their own accord, one of the more persistent oddities the staff have come to expect after dark.
