Patrick Henry's Pub & Grille

Standing a block from St. John's Church in historic Church Hill, this four-story Greek Revival building dates to around 1850 and has served as a family home, brothel, speakeasy, and private club before becoming a pub and restaurant. It is frequently called one of the most haunted bars in America. Church Hill's turbulent past is said to have left restless spirits behind, and staff routinely report encounters; one bartender described a swinging door opening and closing on its own after 2 a.m. with no one else present, and another summed it up by saying everyone who works there has had an experience. The pub leans into its reputation, hosting the Church Hill Chillers ghost tour, which meets at its door, and a haunted dinner event. Its proximity to St. John's, where Patrick Henry delivered his 'Give me liberty, or give me death' speech in 1775, places it at the heart of Richmond's most ghost-storied neighborhood.
