Patrick Henry's Pub & Grille
A block from St. John's Church in historic Church Hill, this four-story Greek Revival building dates to around 1850 and has served as a family home, brothel, speakeasy, and private club before becoming a pub often called one of the most haunted bars in America. Church Hill's turbulent past is said to have left restless spirits behind, and staff routinely report encounters; one bartender described a swinging door opening and closing on its own after 2 a.m. with no one present, and another said everyone who works there has had an experience.
The pub leans in, hosting the Church Hill Chillers ghost tour at its door. Its nearness to St. John's, where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me liberty, or give me death" speech in 1775, anchors it in Richmond's most ghost-storied neighborhood.
