Restaurant 1796 at The Myrtles Plantation

Restaurant 1796 sits on the grounds of the Myrtles Plantation, named for the year General David Bradford built the main house, and opened in February 2019 in a new building raised where the former Carriage House Restaurant burned in a 2017 fire. Diners eat within the same estate where the ghost of Chloe, slain plantation agent William Winter, and a phantom child are reported, gathering around a roughly 10-foot wood-fired hearth over Southern fare made from local produce.

Guests here describe unexplained footsteps, cold spots, objects moving, and figures captured in photographs taken on the property. Sharing the address and lore of one of the country's most famously haunted plantations, it sets you down at the heart of the Myrtles' reputed activity.
