Moon River Brewing Co.
The brick building at 21 West Bay Street was raised in 1821 by Elazer Early as the City Hotel, one of Savannah's grand early lodgings, and counted the naturalist John James Audubon among its long-staying guests. It hosted its final visitor in 1864, just before Sherman took the city, and in the decades after the Civil War the rooms turned to grimmer work, sheltering the sick through Savannah's yellow fever outbreaks.
Today its upper floors are considered the most active in the historic district. A spirit nicknamed Toby is blamed for shoving guests and investigators on the stairs.
Visitors report bottles flying off shelves, cold hands settling on their shoulders, and a woman in white who drifts through the old billiard room, where the after-hours quiet feels watched.
