Church · Key West, FL

St. Paul's Episcopal Church

St. Paul's congregation was established in 1832 by John Fleming, a founding figure of Key West, on land his widow donated after his death; the present building is the fourth on the site, its predecessors lost to fires and hurricanes. The grounds once held an early churchyard, and visitors report shadow figures that vanish when approached and photographs streaked with orbs, mists, and human-like shapes.

The most reported apparition is a man in 19th-century dress, a flimsy white vapor some believe is Fleming himself, seemingly upset his grave was disturbed during repeated reconstructions. Others describe a sea captain who delights in frightening visitors, and a man said to have driven pirates from Key West, near whose grave sudden violent winds rise.

It remains a regular stop on Key West ghost walks.
