Windward House

A circa-1905 Edwardian seaside cottage on Jackson Street now run as a bed-and-breakfast inn, Windward House is said to be haunted by a spirit the owners call Bridgette, an Irish girl described as appearing in a dress of shiny gold fabric. According to longtime owner Sandy Miller, Bridgette is especially fond of jewelry: earrings left on a nightstand overnight tend to go missing, though they are usually returned before the guest checks out. Guests also report objects moving and waking in the night to a flickering gold light on the walls, like firelight, with no source. The inn sits in the heart of Cape May's Victorian historic district and is a recurring entry in the town's ghost-lore listings. CapeMay.com's "Long Gone but Refusing to Leave" feature and FrightFind both record the haunting.
