17Hundred90 Inn

One of the oldest inns in Savannah, the 17Hundred90 sits at 307 East President Street, near the eastern edge of the historic district where the city still trades on the unhurried luxury of times gone by. Its rooms spread across a clutch of early Federal-era brick buildings, and it keeps its most famous guest tucked into Room 204.

Anna, the story goes, was the bride of an arranged marriage in the early 1800s who fell in love with a sailor and then fell, leapt, or by some tellings was pushed from an upper window when he sailed away without her. Guests in that room still report jewelry and clothing moved from one spot to another overnight, the bed gently shaking, and a soft presence that seems to watch over them as they sleep.
