Majestic Theatre

Opened in 1929 and designed by atmospheric-theater architect John Eberson with a ceiling that mimics a Mediterranean night sky, the Majestic was once among the largest theaters in the country, seating over 2,200. Staff and patrons report several recurring spirits. One is believed to be Zoroastro, a stage magician who performed there and is said to linger near the stage, as though still playing to his fans. A spirit called Magdalene is reported on the second floor near the stage, and a female patron is repeatedly seen during performances. Lore also recalls a woman who fell to her death years ago from an ornate window of a top-floor apartment in the tower above the theater, her body striking a railing beside the building. Employees describe objects moving on their own and disembodied footsteps and voices in the empty house.
