Olde Harbour Inn
The Olde Harbour Inn stands on the Savannah River bluff between River Street and Factors' Walk, on a site that traces back to warehouses raised around 1812 to hold the cotton moving through the port. The three-story brick building that survives today was rebuilt in the late 1880s and rebuilt again after fire, later housing an oil company and a garment maker before a two-year renovation turned it into an inn in the 1980s.
Through all those lives the staff have kept one ghost, a gentle resident they call Hank. He is blamed for the smell of pipe and cigar smoke in smoke-free rooms, for shifted belongings, and for the soft shuffle of footsteps late at night.
Most guests find him more companionable than frightening, a dockworker who simply never clocked out.
