Central Congregational Church
Built in 1875 by Boston architects Hartwell & Swasey and added to the National Register of Historic Places, this Gothic stone church was the home congregation of the Borden family. Lizzie Borden was an active member who taught Sunday school here, and the building's direct tie to her has fueled its haunted reputation. The church became a stop tied to Fall River's Lizzie Borden ghost lore, and paranormal team the Tennessee Wraith Chasers investigated it for a first-season episode of Destination America's 'Haunted Towns,' attempting to make contact with Lizzie's spirit in the sanctuary where she once worshipped and taught. Later deconsecrated and used as a historic event venue, the soaring stone interior — which also served as the backdrop for Aerosmith's 1993 'Cryin'' video — continues to draw visitors curious about the woman at the center of America's most infamous unsolved murder.
