Connor Hotel

David Connor built this brick hotel and saloon on Main Street, rebuilding in 1898 after fire twice razed the structure as it had much of early Jerome. Room 1 is the focus of its haunting: guests report disembodied whispering and the laughter of unseen women. The most repeated account is a female presence said to whisper to occupants and even attempt to climb into bed with them. One guest reportedly fled to sleep in his vehicle after feeling an unseen weight lie down on top of him in the night, accompanied by scratching noises and other unexplained sounds. Guests have also described armoire doors opening on their own, sudden cold chills, and unexplained figures appearing in photographs. The hotel ties the activity to Jerome's violent mining-era past, when the building stood at the center of a rowdy saloon district.
