The Clinkscale (Mile High Inn)

Built in 1899 on the ashes of a burned-out building, this Main Street structure was given thick fire-resistant walls and later became associated with Jerome madam Jennie Banters, one of the territory's wealthiest businesswomen. Long operated as the Mile High Inn and now The Clinkscale, the building is said to be haunted by Jennie herself, who is reported to roam the halls keeping order much as she did in life. Staff describe dishes and objects flying off shelves when not put away to her standard, furniture and smaller objects moved overnight, a phantom cat that leaves footprints on the beds, and other unexplained activity. Jennie is most often sensed near the kitchen, where she lets her presence be known. The site is also linked in local lore to Sammie Dean, a Jerome prostitute strangled by a client whose murder was never solved.
