Foley House Inn
The Foley House Inn stands on Hull Street facing Chippewa Square, a pair of joined Victorian townhouses built in 1896 and 1870 and named for Honoria Foley, the woman behind the property. Its darker reputation traces to a 1987 renovation, when workers reportedly tore into a wall and found a human skeleton sealed inside, the remains, local legend says, of a suitor the original mistress killed and helped hide.
From that story comes the inn's resident "Gentleman Ghost," a figure in a top hat said to appear in the windows and on the staircase. Guests over the years have described knocks with no source, sudden cold spots, and the unsettling sense of a polite but unwelcome visitor lingering nearby.
Whether the skeleton was ever real, as Savannah's storytellers admit, the records refuse to fully say.
